Do you remember Tango? The horse we liberated from a downtown backyard after discovering he had been living with a halter zip tied to his face because his owner said he was "hard to catch?" Just look at him now. His stall door is open and he could leave at any time, but he chooses this. 💜 When Tango first arrived, he was flighty, anxious, and always looking for the nearest exit. The very first thing we did was remove that halter and make him a promise: never again. At Red Feather, we believe in consent-based, positive training methods that give horses autonomy over their bodies and their choices. Our philosophy is simple: we should never have to "catch" a horse. Horses should choose to come to us because they associate people with safety, trust, kindness, and good things. Watching Tango's transformation into making that choice has been one of the greatest rewards. I also hope the people on social media who accused us of "stealing a woman's horse" (despite us clearly explaining that she contacted me herself and voluntarily transferred him into our care) can see the difference in his spirit today. This is why we advocate so fiercely for horses like Tango. Sometimes the most profound transformation isn't physical at all. It's the moment a horse realizes they no longer have to be afraid.

Meet Kodia! Kodia has the heart of a puppy and loves to play. She has an endless amount of energy in doing her zoomies, then coming to sit beside or on you for a good massage. She amuses herself with a kong toy in which she has to get treats out of. Throw a toy and watch her chase after it, but then she delights in making you come to her to throw it again. Moo's 8 precious butterflies are almost 4 weeks old! 🦋💜 (I'm missing a few photos because puppies are squirmy and hard to photograph) These babies are already tipping the scales at 5.5+ pounds each, so we're pretty convinced dad was a large- to giant-breed dog! They're nursing Moo absolutely dry, and their incredible foster mom has been supplementing them with formula around the clock. It's safe to say these little chunks haven't missed many meals. 😆 We're starting to look for experienced foster and adoptive homes within 50 miles of Winston-Salem. With the extreme heat and drought we've experienced this summer, I can't help but feel especially grateful that we were able to get this little family off the streets and into a safe, loving home. This weekend you can challenge Kaleideum staff in Pokémon Scarlet, Violet, or Pokémon GO, then see if you can track down and defeat our hidden Gym Leader somewhere inside the museum. Search the exhibits, hallways, and Liberty Plaza for hidden Pokémon cards to add to your collection, and complete a Pokémon-themed scavenger hunt for even more fun. The weather may be hot in Liberty Plaza, so remember your shorts; they're comfy and easy to wear! @wshouseofcards will be on hand to introduce the Pokémon TCG, answer questions, and share tips. Throughout the day, team up with fellow Trainers to take on Mega Mewtwo Y in Pokémon GO raids during Pokémon GO Fest. Don't miss this adventure, you don't even need to go into the tall grass for it!
