Four nights. One weekend. Then it’s gone. Chimes of Freedom: Folk Singers & Fellow Travelers runs October 1-4, 2026 at Reynolda House Museum of American Art, 2250 Reynolda Road, Winston-Salem, NC. Friday, Oct 2 - 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct 3 - 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct 4 - 2 p.m. $75 individual, $60 museum members Joshuah Brian Campbell performs as Harry Belafonte. He co-wrote “Stand Up” with Cynthia Erivo for the film Harriet — the song that earned him an Oscar nomination. Joseph Terrell of Mipso performs as Bob Dylan. Flash Point co-curator and Betsy Main Babcock Deputy Director Phil Archer guides the night. Together they rebuild the sound of the Civil Rights Movement — the music that traveled with the marches, the organizers, the freedom rides — performed inside Flash Point: The Civil Rights Photography of Danny Lyon, co-curated by Phil Archer and Ashley Givens, adjunct assistant professor in Wake Forest University’s Department of Art. The exhibition is on view through January 3, 2027. Danny Lyon was 20 when he hitchhiked south with a borrowed camera and became the official photographer for SNCC. These are the songs that were playing while he shot. Not a tribute band. Not a lecture. A live performance that brings an art exhibition and history to life, and there is nothing else like it happening in Winston-Salem this fall. Can’t make the weekend? Ashley Givens gives a curator talk on the Danny Lyon photographs Oct 28. Reynolda House, 2250 Reynolda Road, Winston-Salem, NC Tickets at reynolda.org or the link in @historicreynolda ’s bio Saturday night is the one to catch. Tag who you’re bringing.
